Why I work well with kids?
I would describe my teaching style as a means in which students can be completely contented to learn music notation, vocal, instrumental, and ear-training skills, and be perform the music professionally and expressively. Having been classically trained in piano in New York City at various schools and conservatories, attending LaGuardia H.S. of Music and Art and Performing Arts, playing and performing on voice and piano at Howard University, teaching piano classes, producing and directing plays, I have an extensive background and I am able to fully teach these classes. My instructional skills would challenge the students by always keeping them engaged and anticipating on the next topic.

The world is in constant need of people who are going to make a difference, and as a teacher I believe I have succeeded thus far in this endeavor. My name is Alice Laurissa and for the past several years I have been performing, recording, and teaching classes in piano, voice, theory, drama, and movement in the DC Public and Charter School systems, private academies, and summer programs. I have brought many accomplished musicians in to work with the students in workshops in addition to performances. The students I have taught have experienced the opportunity to travel and perform in local schools and churches in DC, VA, as well as Africa.
