Bio
Location of Birth: Takoma Park MD
I grew up in a musical family. My brothers put drum sticks in my hands before I could talk. Ever since then I was hooked. I explored different options,learning classical Indian instruments and taking lessons in school. But nothing felt right until I got a hold of a drum kit, a bass and a guitar. Then in high school and college I took music theory and musicianship classes while pursuing a degree in Business Administration. After taking lessons and studying on my own I learned the fundamentals of good teaching.That’s why I want to create non intimidating environment where students can feel comfortable learning their instrument, all while having fun and being encouraged.
Musical Experience
-Lessons in Mrdanga, Tabla, and Karatalas
-Lessons in Violin, Trumpet, Tuba
-Courses in Music Theory as applied to guitar
-Courses in General Muscianship.
-Experiance playing Mrdanga and Karatalas at live venues.
-Experiance in playing drums, bass and guitar
in different incarnations of the band Soilders and Sages.
-Currently play guitar/bass in local duo Coda.

-Worked in “the Playroom” at McLean Racquet and Health Club.
-Worked as a Youth Camp Counselor at McLean Racquet and Health Club.
-Teachers aid working with children with mental disabilities at Kilmer Middle School.

Raj tailored each child’s unique learning style to overcome fear through his incredible patience. If he has to repeat something numerous times until my daughter gets it, he does it making her feel awesome throughout her struggle to ‘get it’. I wish I could afford to have him twice a week – he is a perfect match for us.
A nice accolade for B & B is the initial high quality inquiry response call in which very specific questions were asked in order to determine our children’s learning styles and needs. That was the precursor to making a a meaningful match with Raj!
