Juana is a native New Yorker now living in the DC metro area. She is self taught on the piano and attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a Bachelors of Arts in Music. Juana studied Classical Voice and Piano as a secondary instrument. She also has a Master’s in Education Curriculum and Instruction. Juana has 9 years of experience as an educator in the public and private sector; she has worked primarily with elementary and secondary music students. She specializes in vocal instruction and has worked with young voices up through adults. While Juana is a certified music instructor in public sector she currently teaches from her home studio. She is also working on personal musical projects and performing at various venues in DC. She spends most of her time teaching, learning, practicing, studying and writing music. She takes inspiration from various genres, classical, pop, country, jazz and R&B.

We’re really happy to be working with the newest addition to our roster.  Jesse C. teaches both drums and guitar in DC and Maryland.  He is a smart and friendly young man who recently moved to DC from Connecticut and we are  confident in his ability to connect and engage his students. Jesse not only has a Masters in Music and Technology, but  also spent 8 weeks in a rural village in Ghana where he taught music.  As both a drummer and guitarist, he certainly benefited from this cultural experience!

Here is a little background on Jesse:

I graduated from Connecticut College in May 2009 with a B.A. in Music
& Technology. My major consisted of various music theory courses such
as tonal theory, jazz harmony, 20th century theory, and composition,
in addition to private lessons in classical guitar. I was also a
member of the student guitar ensemble, where I rehearsed solo and
ensemble pieces and performed in recitals throughout the semester. In
addition to my classical instruction in college, I’ve also received
private instruction in electric guitar styles such as blues, rock, and
jazz since the summer of 2006. My favorite styles to play are blues,
rock, and jazz. The summer before my senior year in college, I
traveled to Ghana for a college funded internship, where I taught
music for eight weeks at a school in a rural town. It was an
incredibly rewarding experience which has motivated me to pursue
teaching as a career.
