Why I work well with kids?

As both a musician and a psychology major, Simone uses an eclectic approach of applying principles of lifespan human development, the Suzuki method, and various theory and piano course books towards her teaching methods. Even as early as middle school, she began teaching private lessons to her peers; specifically violin, viola, and cello. She greatly enjoys finding new and exciting ways to motivate young people to explore the connections between classical approaches and the application of those techniques towards popular music, including the use of technology, social media, and amplification/effects on traditionally classical acoustic instruments.

Why I work well with kids?

I love playing my instrumentand it translates to and in my teaching! I am energetic, fun and my students know that I care about them.I feel that any kind of formal training should begin with enjoying music so that is where I begin.

Why I work well with kids?

First of all, I like to teach kids very much. With the very small kids I try to make the violin lesson not to serious keeping their attention with  some musical games or stories that involve music.
As the student gets older the lessons can get more serious with the same dynamic of having fun at the  violin lesson.

Why I work well with kids?

I work well with kids because I started learning an instrument at a very young age myself, so I am able to put myself in their shoes.  My teacher showed a great deal of patience and sensitivity to my learning style and knew how to make it fun and engaging, so I strive to do that with my students.  I think it’s important to be continuously encouraging and positive with kids, and show them how rewarding playing music can be.  I truly believe it’s my responsibility to share the passion I have as a musician with my students.

Why I work well with kids?

I work well with kids because I feel like I am a kid myself. I teach in “black and white”, meaning there is a right way to make a stringed instrument sound good, and a wrong way. I teach the right way from the very beginning. Plus, I have routine for each lesson so students know what is expected. Also, I make sure that we are always learning and always having fun.

Why I work well with kids?

I have extensive experience working with music students of all ages. I try to be non-intimidating while communicating my passion for music to get my students excited about learning. With kids, showing them what they could be playing in a matter of weeks gets them motivated, and a cycle of positive reinforcement gets them there!
