Why I work well with kids?

Rick is a music teacher and gigging musician living in Washington DC. Originally from Philadelphia, he moved to the District in the fall of ’05. When not giving lessons with B&B Music Lessons, Rick can be seen drumming with Taking Saturn, an original rock band, and The Atomic Swing Club, a rockabilly/jazz outfit. He also helps run “We Jam”, an after-school program affiliated with The Washington Jazz Arts Institute. Rick teaches drums, percussion, piano and guitar.

Why I work well with kids?

I work well with kids because I want to see them succeed. I invest because I believe that coaxing out the ability to read and play music helps to develop the best attributes of their development into adults.

Why I work well with kids?

I’m very patient and I try hard to keep kids interested by teaching songs they want to learn and have fun with while also teaching the skills that are needed to succeed in playing music in school through college and professionally!!

Why I work well with kids?

I am able to come up with creative ideas and lessons that focus on keeping the attention and excitement for the instrument. Playing music is a passion and I try to share my passion with them so they can see the love that can come out of the love that you put into it. Music transcends life and also teaches patience and discipline. There has to be a willingness to learn and to become better so that a passion can develop. Keeping things fun and interesting is also important.

Why I work well with kids?

I work well with kids because I always teach to their interests. Creating lesson plans that work with what the student wants to learn and enjoys but also teach the fundamentals of the instrument are crucial. Every student has different strengths and learns differently. The benefit of having a one-on-one private lesson is that I can tailor my methods to fit each student.

Why I work well with kids?

I have worked with kids from 4 years of age and above. I have also taught senior citizens. I have been teaching music to a variety of people and age group for more than 15 years. I am able to communicate with each age group which enhances the teaching and learning experience. This is my life work and I am very good at it. I have so many testimonies both in the U.S. and in Africa concerning the high standard of music that I am able to take my students to.

Why I work well with kids?

I have worked with many children in various age groups in my previous professions. As a sneaker salesman, and a merchandise sales man for a traveling musical, I often worked hand in hand with children to help them find and purchase things that fulfilled their desires, as well as their parents requirements. I also have much experience tutoring and teaching piano to my younger siblings and cousins.
